Harlem Renaissance painter Romare Bearden, ink on paper of figures from the Iliad series, signed L/L "Bearden", 23 1/2" x 19 1/2", framed 26 1/2" x 22 1/4". Provenance: Estate of Anthony Cromwell Hill, of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Romare Bearden and Adelaide Cromwell (Hill), renowned scholar and mother of Anthony Cromwell Hill, were members of the Black Academy of Arts and Letters. Romare Bearden studied art at Boston University for two years, and Adelaide Cromwell founded BU's African American Studies program.
